Writing Schedule

Unlike you, Sarah, I finally have a bit more time in the summer to write. I walk more (and take a pad of paper with me) and find beach time or home time to just sit, quiet my mind, and write. I LOVE it.

I am sitting here staring out the window at Glen Lake and it is quiet except for bird song. Sometimes I think I'm afraid to let it get too quiet. Don't know what that says about me! :)

Yesterday I found a phrase I had cut out of a magazine. If you let your imagination go--will it return?

What a fun thought! Boomarang imagination. Or maybe I'd have to design a missing poster: Lost! Sarah's Imagination! Last seen....

Sarah;

Just a thought. Do imagination and creativity intersect? IMO, imagination triggers creativity. I think we let our imagination go--maybe not far--every time we write something. The farther we let imagination go, the nore scary and free it becomes. We can imagine some horendous things.

Quit staring out the window and get to writing. LOL! That was my problem in grade school--always staring out the window. Little did I realize, that's where my heart was. Hope you're having a good and successful week.

Hmm, interesting question. I asked Gloria (who is sitting over in the opposite corner writing like a good writer--unlike spending time reading the blog!) if creativity and imagination were the same thing. We decided (after some discussion) that imagination was a part if creativity, and that is was impossible to be creative without some imagining going on.

And then we got on to talking about how in the book The Four Agreements, it says we are imagining everything. Our whole life is imagined. So, who knows?

I agree, Larry, with your thought about the heart. If we REALLY follow our heart, imagination and creativity will follow in abundance.

And the boomerang will continue to spin around and around...

Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart or maybe I should say recognize where your heart is leading you. I wanted to be a conservation officer in high school, until I found out how much they made. My mom made that much working in a factory. So I let the dream of an architect's big salary seduce me. But my heart was never in it. I ended up working as an estimator in construction. My love of the outdoors became my avocation. Fortunately, the outdoors, and several great nature writers, pulled me out of my shell so I could share my thoughts, feelings, and images through my writing. We arrive at the place we are when we're supposed to get there. Sure wish I could have arrived earlier.

"Sure wish I could have arrived earlier."

I've sometime wished that too. But I decided that maybe I needed to do a fair amount of living before I could write. Or maybe I just decided that to make myself feel better, but oh, well, here now!

Wish you were up here, Larry. The sunset was absolutely stunning tonight. Clear and cool. Great night for campfires and stargazing. Oh, and writing! :)

Sarah;

I wish I was there too! Have a Smore for me and throw another stick on the fire. Some day, I'll come for the week.

I've been inspired by all the grass textures in the field. There's a bumper crop of vetch, a member of the pea family, that's tinting the fields purple. The blooms grow in longish strips of delicate petals. In a couple more weeks the butterly milkweed will be in bloom. The hot-coal orange will contrast those purple blossoms. And before long, the wheat fields turn to gold, no pun intended as rumors predict $20.00 per bushel prices. As much time as I spend outdoors, I'm still amazed at Nature's power and beauty. And there's so much I don't know. I'm not alone. Scientist claim there are millions of species yet to be discovered.

Just got back from Glen Lake and feel inspired to continue writing. I have so many projects in mind. One thing at a time

I get inspired to write more after a single weekend. A week at "Writer's Heaven" must be mind boggling. Nothing like the feedback from our peers and betters to keep us at the keyboard.
